St Margaret’s was built as a non-denominational Protestant church and Sunday School by the widow of Irish immigrant, Richard Cleburne, who ran the Government’s ferry service during the late 1800’s. Services were initially held by Anglican, Presbyterian, Wesleyan and Independent ministers. It is unclear when it became solely Anglican and named “St Margaret’s”. It is now owned by Millington’s Funeral and Cemetery Services.
